What to do: Visa doesn’t have CUAET stamp

Anyone who has been following this blog knows that this space is for Ukrainians to share their experiences. I’m making an exception today because A LOT of people have come to me with this concern. So I’m hoping to type it once and then share it.

For about 30-50% of Ukrainians, for whatever reason, immigration officials did not give you a CUAET stamp. From what I can tell, this is an error on their part. Nonetheless, it needs to be fixed in order to get your $3000, and other benefits.

We have spoken to officials on person, by phone and by email, and here is what they tell us:

If you are in Canada and:

  • Have received a temporary residence document under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) and CUAET/AVUCU is not indicated on your document, or
  • Are a temporary resident and you are now eligible to apply under the CUAET program:
    • we invite you to apply online for a new document and follow the applicable instructions on our website.

In a nutshell – you will need to apply again. I’m sorry. I wish there was a way around this. But at least now we know and can spread the word.
